AFD23 (1)
The onset of the National Armed Forces Day Event for 2023 that is actually a four day weekend of events.
Today was seen as the curtain-raiser to Cornwall hosting National Armed Forces Day 2023.
Billed as a special conference to provide a national and local perspective on how different organisations are supporting the veteran community, and to explore opportunities to create a legacy beyond this event it was a series of presentations by the organisations with a limited input from the audience.
It struck me as surprisingly similar to the event held at RAF St Mawgan in April last year, following that ‘conference’ there was no follow up, no legacy.
My Blip isn’t the place to go into the multitude of charities fighting for their share of the available funds, nor the people who make a living from running these charities.
I paid as much attention as I was able on a hot and humid day and contributed when able but I came away feeling that not much will improve in the short term.
Like a fair number of those who stayed the course I was struck by the illustration that was taking place six feet to the stream of presenters right, really good.
Early evening I managed to get out for a row with Epic, one of the groups struggling in the charities sector for funds to survive.
