Sand Martin

The sand martin colony on the beach here in Seahouses is a joy to see nestled under the cliff.

A gloriously sunny day here started with a catamaran trip round the Farne Islands to see the puffins, guillemots, seals, shags and kittiwakes all breeding on the rocks there. This afternoon we strode on the shoreline to see the kittiwake breeding colony near the sand martins and a couple of gorgeous plovers pottering over the rocks.

No way am I going to be able to see all the shots of today for a while as there are quite a few thousand; I did try to get a handle on the shutter rate but it all just got out of hand with the flight shots.
