My new best friend

Today we started walking from Amberley at 9am and it was already quite warm. We headed up Rackham Hill where we had great views over Amberley Wild Brooks flood plain. After about 5 miles we descended into Washington village for refreshments at the pub. Nearby we came across this adorable donkey and her foal. So, my blip is of me with my new bestie.
After lunch we climbed up onto the Ridge again and proceeded to Chanctonbury Ring, a site famous for having an Iron Age fort and clump of beech trees. See extra. Then it was a long  undulating walk over the downs with fine views out to sea,  and finally steeply down to the River Adur and our coach pick up at Botolphs. This was our longest day at 14 miles.
