Back In The UK

My Dear Princess and Lovely Nieces,

I'm experiencing the worst jet lag EV-ERRRRRRRR.

It leaves me awake at 1am and exhausted at 9am. I slept through two meetings this morning and had to apologise to colleagues.

They were all very understanding though. People are nice.

I probably shouldn't have gone back to work today. But. You know. Money.

All the same, here I sit in the early hours of Friday morning and my mind turns to analogy and metaphor. It strikes me that my mind is still back in the UK, wondering how Abi and Libby are doing.

My sister tells me that dad is not doing well. He's slowly slipping away, getting weaker and more tired. He's not eating much except those ice lollies I bought him.

Maybe my jet lag is a symptom that my heart remains - albeit temporarily - back in the UK.

I came back to this card from my lovely Princess. And I felt another tug from back home. It might take me a few days more to return to Aotearoa.

Incidentally Princess, you are a cheeky bugger.

S.
