Cottages by the Sea
This is the view at the start of the coast path between Portwrinkle and Downderry in South-east Cornwall. The cottages here with their stack of red chminey pots, and orange lichen growing on the roof tiles stands out against the blue sea, and gives the scene a rustic charm. On beyond the hill on the right the uncut, cliff-side grass was teeming today with marbled white butterfies. Their delicate, buoyant flight was a joy to watch. They seemed to be active most of the time, and when they did settle they were difficult to approach. I did get one photo which is added as an extra. Although I could have cropped it to make the subject larger in the frame, I thought the additional background provided a more natural-looking perspective.
