Summer Solstice 2023
That was a summer solstice I won’t forget. Stonehenge may have attracted the greatest numbers and the Ring of Brodgar the discerning people in the north but my allegiance was with the 21 Stromness Singing Selkies gathering for a Solstice dook at 10pm as the sun was setting behind the town. We whooped and hollered and sang as befits an evening immersion and all before enjoying glasses of port provided by one of the group.
And so home for a shower and bed, with cold feet that prevented sleep for a while, before doing it all again this morning but without the port.
It is another warm sunny day and I felt compelled to stravaig along the coastal path this afternoon making the most of this glorious weather.
