Poé Beach, New Caledonia

The sunsets at this beach are famous, but it was low tide this evening with the lagoon resembling nothing so much as mudflats dotted with small crab holes emitting plopping noises. Close to shore this morning green sea turtles grazed below our glass bottom boat. Sharks were sighted. On the reef brightly coloured damsel fish, clownfish and groupers darted around corals, anemones and clams.

Short but steep sections of the Three Bays Trail in the afternoon.

Extras if you’re interested, including one for freespiral.
