Where in China Is This?
Today’s entry features a painting we bought about 35 years ago in Dunblane. The price was about £5.
The image is painted on the back surface of glass. The glass is backed with wood plank. It is an interesting and difficult technique.
I remember an almost identical painting hanging at Hill of Tarvit, the only difference being that the Tarvit image has some gold painted highlights.
Presumably an export version for visitors from abroad. More of the contents of the Mansionhouse are being discovered and I am hoping to see their version of this painting. It may hold a clue as to where in China this is.
