Mrs Doris Trysterman

A new rose added this spring to the apricot colour bed joining Dame Judi Dench, Port Sunlight and Lady Gardener. The orange pagoda lilies in there provide height and intensity The apricot roses seem to be washed out as though the sun is bleaching the petals but Doris is holding her own.
Busy day making potato cakes and scones this morning, the builder brought a trailer full of sand then the dyker arrived after lunch. I was so pleased to see him as he will soon finish repairing the garden walls. I dug up some strawberry plants for a friend, finished pruning the prunus 7 cerasifera into a lollipop shape and, of course, some weeding. Delighted to find Astrantia maxima (my favourite astrantia) has survived the winter and looks wonderful. Friends turned up for a quick G & T on the terrace this evening. My turn to cook - salmon fillet with a cream, lemon and chive sauce and home made potato cakes.
