Gardens across the road

Today we visited two towns of which the old houses are situated along water. In my blip is the first one, IJlst. Both to the left and right of the water are houses. In front of the houses is the road. Beyond the road each house has their own garden. A patch of grass divided by hedges. In the old days these patches of grass were used to dry the laundry, spread out over the grass.

We saw several old houses, some windmills and two fountains, new artistic fountains.
