Hawk Eye
Warm, sunny, windy, +24.
Busy, busy, busy. In the morning phone calls and cooking. Eating and having a nap. In the late afternoon to the allotment. Weeding, tying the bigger flowers, tidying.
Yesterday we put a waterdish for the birds. Today, when we were leaving, a common wood pigeon (Columba palumbus) flew to the dish (main picture). A few minutes later another one flew near. And almost immediately after it a northern goshawk (Accipiter gentilis) attacked as if out of nowhere and chased the pigeons away. Then the hawk flew to the branch of a nearby tree (Extra). I couldn't see any sense of the attack. At least the hawk didn't seem want to drink. Maybe you can see the hawk is marked in two ways, in both legs.
