Anne's Daily Encounters

What's in a name?

Along the waters these plants grow here and the English call them "Butterbur" what funny name is that?!
Internet says this name is derived from the fact that people used to wrap a piece of butter in those leaves and elsewhere can be found that these plants were considered medicinal, so these leaves weren't mistrusted.
in Dutch we call them "Groot Hoefblad" what's translated as 'Giant Coltsfoot'. Anyway, just a giant leave for today as I didn't have anyone near me to ask for a portrait.
