Solway Firth
A day out today. Our first visit to Cockermouth in Cumbria. What a charming town. We had a walk around and found a lovely coffee shop at the back of a book shop which served excellent coffee and cake.
Then to the coast by Maryport for a brief look at the sea and a swift picnic lunch before an hours drive to catch up with friends who live near Lanercost close to Hadrians Wall. We had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon eating freshly made scones, jam, cream and fresh strawberries picked from their garden just before we arrived.
The shot of the day (only 4 taken) is of the Solway Firth in baking hot sun and clear skies. The forecast says rain is coming to the NW!
