Cutting

To say I am delighted is somewhat of an understatement!  My sister over the years has tried to strike cuttings from a rose that was planted by my great aunt. She has never managed to get them beyond the struggling first year cutting.. but she gave me one and this is it's first year flowering!! Delicately scented and an absolute joy it is covered in blooms.  To be fair the original (which lives on sandy soil and is probably nearly 100 years old) always dies back with mildew later in the season and I see this one is developing some black spot so probably wont be the best rose ever but for now I am thrilled :)

Another hot one.. bookclub tonight in a friends garden which will be lovely
