Show A Leg...

We noticed on Sunday that this table had collapsed - one of the joints holding a leg in place had split and the leg fell off. With only two legs remaining, the table fell over.

It's a special table, kidney-shaped to fit round a seat and made by my father when I was quite small. Looking at it just now I realise that it's in two layers, the top of ?yew is relatively thin, mounted on a baselayer of ?oak, with the grains running at 90° to each other.

He also made a coffee table from the old oak mantlepiece from, I think, our previous house, which we left when I was four. ( I have a memory of letting snails crawl up the sides...), this now resides with my eldest brother.

Yesterday Mr Flum re-glued the split joint, today he replaced it, inserted and glued in the leg so here's the table, back in action.
