Naughty sheep!
I went for a lovely walk with my friend Lorna this afternoon and as we walked up Spring Lane we saw some sheep ahead of us out in the road! They then crossed the road as if they were going into the farmyard and as we tried to gently persuade them to jump back over the wall (to the left of this shot) another sheep jumped over (see extra) quickly followed by her little lamb, despite Lorna's best efforts!
We called in at the farm house but couldn't find the farmer so we left them to it and carried on up to the end of the lane before turning back to walk home. As we got near the farm again, we saw the farmer and called out to him that some of his sheep were out in the lane and he called back: "Just tell them they are being very naughty!" which we duly did when we found them still out in the lane! They trotted on ahead of us all the way down the lane to the entrance of another field which has a gate and a cattle grid but they had gone into the field before we could head them off. So we walked up through the field to the village where there is another cattle grid and a gate, which we duly closed so that if they'd come up any further they would not have escaped into the village. The farmer did not seem worried as it probably happens all the time and they were still on his land in the big open field and it's a quiet road with very little traffic. Little Bo Peep would have been quite worried though!
