Avalon Archaeology
A trip to Avalon Marshes today as I wanted to see round the work volunteers have done there . It’s impressive - an Iron Age hut under construction, a Viking longboat, a Saxon longhouse, a Roman Villa and the preserved archaeology hut from a long excavation of Glastonbury lake village at the beginning of the last century .it’s only open to general public Sundays and Mondays as it’s volunteer run. The informative films in the archaeology hut were really interesting. The Saxon longhouse was particularly impressive.
Afterwards, we went on to Wells where we sat enjoying the tranquility of the Bishops Palace Grounds .
