Bocagei

A large Luciobarbus bocagei (or Iberian Barbel) searching for her breakfast, rooting around under the stones for tasty little insects.

Given the perfect mirror surface of the Almendra, when I put down the camera and picked up the fishing rod, the only outcome I was expecting was for the fish to depart before I'd even cast. However, miraculously everything went right for once; the tiny fly dropped like (cliched...) thistledown about two foot ahead of the fish, up came a gold head and then the bay was a bit less calm...

11 hours of fishing later and I've lost count the times this has happened today, and of the even larger number of failures...but what a day. :)
