one day in France

By Frenchtoast

Goodbye old friend

We popped into our village garage so that Mr F could chat about tow bars and things, and I could have a look at the car, and say thank you and goodbye. Annoyingly we only had it serviced and the air con recharged two weeks ago, but the insurance company says we can claim for this!
We’ve had this car for 15 years, since new, and don’t know how we’ll do without it.
Then it was off to the GP, who saw me without an appointment, agreed I needed an X-ray, and prescribed a splint. My hand has swollen even more today and is no better with the splint, but we managed to get an appointment for an X-ray tomorrow.
Then we went to the gendarmerie, which is where we were when the speeding Frenchman phoned. He and I have to fill in a form together and agree on what happened, loosely translated as ‘the friendly statement’. Of course it never is.
I couldn’t bear to listen to the conversation, and got all emotional. I really don’t want to meet him but have to, and he is travelling down from Poitiers to do this compulsory form.
Josie seems to be doing ok, and we compared aches and pains when we spoke this morning. Thank you all so much for your concern, I do appreciate it.
