Surprise appearance

The warm sunny weather continues and we wonder how much longer it can go on. The downside is that our water supply, although still running, is a trickle compare to the raging torrent of 12th April. For the last few years during May and June we have had a dry period with low water, but this year seems more prolonged, and still no useful rain in sight!
Nick had a bit of fun when his new sit-on lawnmower was delivered this morning. To be accurate, he wasn’t actually here when it arrived as he was out for a walk with Bertie, so I needed to call on the help of our very practical neighbour John to help with the unloading which wasn’t straightforward but ultimately successful. The grass around the house is now looking a lot better but there is still plenty of long grass and many wild flowers for the insects. This orchid has popped up in a pot and must have self-seeded from a couple of others that flower every year.
