Calgary beach

When I walked out of the door this morning I was faced by a wall of midges so I made a quick decision to take Bertie to Calgary for his morning walk. I knew I had made the right decision when I felt that cold north-westerly wind. I donned my had and gloves and off we went. It was a most enjoyable walk along the side of the bay with encounters with sandpipers piping and an adder basking in the sunshine. Sadly, I don’t have a shot of the adder because, once it felt the vibrations of my steps,  it quickly retreated into its hole in the stones.
By the time we had returned home there was a bit of a breeze so Nick and I decided to go to to the community orchard to do a bit of work, including sorting out the tool shed and pulling some bracken.
I tried a new recipe and made a cherry Bakewell Tart with fresh cherries for our “fun filled frolicking Friday” treat and it was truly scrumptious!
