Cruel Radiance

I had a blood test at noon and then I drove to the office. I met my friend Ulla in the afternoon, we walked to the Cafe Metsonkulma and we also visited the Art Gallery Saskia. They are presenting one of Backlight 2023 photo festival exhibitions. This year's Backlight theme is Cruel Radiance.

Backlight is an international photo festival organized every three years in Tampere. In the Saskia exhibition there is three art works:

Atomic video installation tells the story of a special piece of jewelry. This small, atomic-shaped hair ornament was designed to order by the U.S. military and made of gold, palladium, and trinitite, a material created as a byproduct of Trinity's first nuclear test in New Mexico in July 1945.
Hollywood stars and social beauties wore jewelry at dances and other occasions, and after World War II, Miss USA was photographed at the time with a highly radioactive, life-threatening piece of jewelry on her head.
