Words and woods

Another scorcher today - 25 in the shade when I looked out later this afternoon. Too hot for me!

Had a KOB friend round this morning - we were trying to agree on words for our Keep Oban Beautiful poster - it's always difficult to come to an agreement as everyone has their own idea of what's best! We finally settled for this, to be printed on yellow paper. Now I have a lot of printing to do and then a trailing round the shops trying to persuade local  shopkeepers to stick them in the window!

After lunch another KOB friend asked me to go with her to meet a tree surgeon in some local woods. She had previously met with Oban High School to discuss an area of neglected native woodland behind the school - it belongs to the council and she felt it would be a good project for the school's Eco Group and KOB to work together, clearing up all the rubbish, removing a few non-native trees, cleaning out ditches and generally bringing it back to life. My extra shows a wonderful cliff face at the back of the woods, covered with ferns. The railway line runs further back along the top of the cliff. At the edge of the trees in a grassy patch I found some small clumps of Heath Spotted Orchids too.

Went to the Walled Garden afterwards to do some watering - most of the rainwater tubs, of which there are many, were almost empty.

Never a dull moment!
