June 4

I left the house around 8 am again today and returned home at 4 pm. I stopped at the plant sale in Truro and bought a few things, mostly plants for myself. I had a walk around the rock garden at Dal AC where this photo was taken. Then on to Tatamagouche to meet my brunch group. I did stop at another garden center, a newer one that opened a couple of years ago, then met my friends for brunch.
After brunch I headed cross country thru some back roads so I could stop at another garden center where I bought quite a few things, most will be used in clients gardens. I also stopped at Masstown Market, a popular stop for anyone travelling thru the area. They have a bakery there, but most of the shelves were empty this afternoon. It is better to get there in the morning, when they try to keep things filled up. Masstown Market has a bakery, cafe, farm market, gift shop and a garden center all under one roof.
On my way home, I decided to take a drive by another market to see if they had their sign out that fresh valley strawberries were available. They did so I stopped to get some. We can get fresh strawberries all winter, but they don't taste the same as the local berries.
Another cloudy, cool day and it is raining tonight, with a special weather statement in effect. There is 50 - 75 mm of rain in the forecast for tomorrow. There was enough rain yesterday that the Tantallon wildfire is now contained. More people were allowed to return to their homes today. It will be a couple of months before they declare the fire is out completely.
Many of the subdivisions that were evacuated were built with only one road in and out, As a result of the fire, more emergency roads are going to be built in these communities, and hopefully other communities that would be in the same situation.
