WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

In Harmony

It’s years since Frank and I performed songs together, we used go out often and sing and play at various events but when I started to learn ukulele and got together with my friend Lila up in Scotland I ditched Frank! How awful was that? Well not really as he was in other bands at the time.
In August there is a small festival in our Yorkshire village - a memorial to a villager who died before we moved here.
Frank asked me if I would fancy reviving some of old songs and doing a spot at the festival. I was a bit doubtful at first but said I’d give it a try.
We’ve been practicing now for about 3 weeks and I’m really enjoying it. We also have Jim on the piano who is excellent. Today we had our first practice with him and went really well.
We’ll be singing some Steve Earle, Bruce Springstein and EmmyLou Harris songs and a couple of others.

It’s very warm in the sun today but still that cold wind about which anybody who knows me, knows I can’t stand!
I popped round to an elderly neighbour today to take a wee pressie for their dog - doggie treats and a card from Bella. Their little dog Darcy -a Bijon I think - was attacked by an off lead dog a couple of weeks ago and ended up with lots of stitches and staples. A few days later he became unwell and they took him back to the vet - he had pancreatitis and it was touch and go. However he is now recovering after a vet bill of £1300! The owner of the off lead dog has not been to see if Darcy is OK and has not apologised. Apparently their dog - a black lab - had escaped from the garden and John said he is never taken for a walk, just cooped up in the back garden all day.

Amelia was skating for the first time since she broke her toe and managed really well, she’s happy again now!
SiL Johnnie has been helping Melanie do up her new flat - sanding and staining floors, priming paintwork fixing electrics etc and she will be moving in there next week. As soon as I can I’ll be going up to help her with some painting and decorating too.

I caught the sun today and look like a tomato even though I tried to avoid the sun on my face.

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

:-)X
