Superhero Swing!
'Daddy go and hide, Grandad and Mummy give me a Superhero Swing!'
These were the instructions from Euan as we made our descent from the top of Helsington Barrow on a beautiful morning today. The family had broken their long journey to Scotland for a friend's wedding at a hotel just off the M6 close to the southern Lakes, so we drove out early to see them for a few hours.
We parked up at Sizergh Castle for our walk up to the viewpoint and en route paused to enjoy the fabulous, clear views across to the Lakeland Fells. Back at the Castle it was time for an ice cream and then the Wild Play Trail with several tasks to do; logs to balance on; stumps to cross and mini crags to scale. The carpark and café were heaving by the time we returned to the visitor centre so we took a chance and drove to the nearby farm shop/café, which was much less busy, for lunch.
It was time to say goodbye to the family and return home mid afternoon. Thankfully, the journey was straightforward and we were very glad not to be in the nose to tail line of cars heading back towards the Lakes!
