A farewell to Oban
This is the view from the deck of our ferry this morning as we left Oban and headed west. About two and half hours after I snapped this shot, we landed on the Isle of Coll for the first segment of our summer holiday.
When we dropped our bags off at our bed and breakfast, the landlady instantly recognised us from our visit here last year. We're back for two main reasons: (1) to explore the places that we didn't reach last time, such as the beaches in the north; (2) Mr hazelh would like to enjoy the island without the encumbrance of toothache.
We spent most of the day sunbathing, reading (myself) and learning Gaelic (Mr hazelh) at Hogh Bay, then in the garden of our bed and breakfast. This evening we walked down the road to the Coll Hotel for supper. To celebrate the first night of our holiday proper, I worked my way through a seafood platter of langoustines, lobster, and crab - delicious!
The sun has shone all day. Long may this fab weather continue!
Exercise today: 11 miles of cycling; walking (8,655 steps).
