Escape From Sector 7-G

Silvanus

I read about this installation and realising it was only a 35min drive from home I went on a walk to try and find it.
Situated on Croy Hill near the Forth and Clyde canal, the sculpture is named Silvanus, who was a Roman god protector of forests, fields and cattle. Three altars mentioning this name have been found along the Antonine Wall.

Commissioned as part of a wider Rediscovering the Antonine Wall project, this giant head of the Roman soldier is seven metres high and made of weathering steel.
