Ancient Monument

As it was a nice day we went for a drive north to see the Aberlemno stones. Dating from around 800AD they are very impressive.

There are four to see, one in a churchyard, three by a roadside.
The stone pictured has stood in that position for 1200 years.
Sculpted on both sides, the side facing the road is a Pictish cross which showed the burgeoning Christian influence to passing travellers.
