NOT ONLY MY INNERVOICE
told me but also the fact that we did need bread for lunch that made me decide to walk down and just when I crossed the river I saw the swans flying through the air coming in my direction. Camera out of bag, turning it on, hoping for the right settlements and that's where I started to take some pictures of them.
They did not fly over my head, they made a wide circle and landed at the slope of the overflooded river. I walked towards them and saw they were a swan pair and three young ones (born last year). Heartely they swom and ate the grass in the water.
Now and then they chased and pinched each other.
It started to rain when I walked uphill with the bread for lunch.
I already had in the morning spotted a yellow ladybird, being an acrobat on a leaf and more spectacular a fly in the heart of a pink rhododendronflower, that I want to show here.
At the picture one sees next to the swan family the Hugenottenturm. A tower that was build in 1913, so it exists now 100 years. There is an exhibition in the Hugenottenmuseum.
As a sign of thankfullness J.J. Davin, an owner of a quarry, had given the assigmenr for building this tower, because his and his wife forefathers had fled from Piemonte in 1686.
They were Waldensers, persecuted for their religion and had found a safe haven in Hessen.
My haiku:
Time for a short walk
In the rain and I find
Red clover flowers
Note to myself: I want red clover flowers and particularly this flame red brand.
Carry a little spade!
And the proverb:
Het is een vierkante regen met achthoekige zonnestralen.
Translation:
This is a squarely rain with octagonal sunrays. Said of showery weather.
