Taking a Break

This morning I enjoyed a 4 mile circular walk starting and finishing at home. Although I live within a large urban conurbation the route passes mainly through quiet woodland. The walk has been made possible by a major road improvement scheme, and the opening-up of private land, previously owned by the Ministry of Defence. Because Plymouth is built on a series of hills, there are extensive areas of land unsuitable for development, which provide green corridors where plants and wildlife flourish. This shot was taken of some cows resting in a field beside the path. Probably what we all should be doing on a warm, sunny, holiday monday, if we are able to! Not necessarily in a field though.
