Sunday: Gales Point Manatee
Having had a good recovery day yesterday we went out for a drive today. We drove along the new Coastal Highway to the village of Gales Point Manatee. It’s a pretty undeveloped area but the location is lovely. It’s benefitted from a new (UK-funded) road so hopefully that will help the community economically.
We got chatting to a woman who asked our names. When we told her she said: ‘We had two people in the village with those names. One died when she was 22, the other died when she was 50’. We weren’t quite sure what the appropriate reaction to that was, other than to express the hope that it wasn’t some sort of omen.
We didn’t see any manatees but it was still a nice excursion.
We watched ‘The French Dispatch’ when we got back. Loved it - Wes Anderson is a genius.
