CYCLE SCHOOL

Road America offers more than just race weekends.  While the Porsches were racing this weekend, on other track venues school was taking place. There was a special school for off road cycle riding taking place on a dirt venue. This was a beginners school for cycle riding.

One of the great advantages of taking this track sponsored school is, if one successfully completes the training he/she is fully licensed and does not have to take the state road test. The instructor has near 300,000 miles (483,000 km) between riding on his Honda Goldwing and his day job (now retired) as a motorcycle policeman.  He's an excellent instructor and fully qualified in teaching the law when it comes to cycle riding.  This group is indeed fortunate to have him as their instructor.

The track also offers driving schools for teenagers in both summer and winter.  Great schools and, in many cases, parents take the course right along with their kids. This is especially true for the winter courses when parents from warmer regions move to Wisconsin and need to learn how to drive properly in the snow and ice.
