I know there will probably be several other blips of this unforgettable experience as it was shared with David, my sister, Daveen and b-i-l, Mike; nevertheless I had to add my own comment. This was taken at the end of a 22 course tasting menu dinner that told a story of an Iberian pig called ‘Cochinito’, who goes to the beach, takes a break in the countryside, and shows it’s sweet side. Each course was an an adventure - not just of the culinary kind, but also visual.
In the center of our group was the amazing chef - Toño. We had a surprise bonus at the end because he gave us a ride home to our camper van as there were no available taxis!
I was going to say that this was an ‘out of this world’ evening but more accurately I will say it was a ‘very much in this world’ experience because I want to be fully engaged in this wonderful business of living while we still can. It was worth every minute!
Earlier in the day we experienced the ‘rain in Spain that falls mainly on the plain’ when we hit thunderstorms as we approached our campsite. This is by far the best campsite we’ve stayed at this visit, with our own private bathroom right next to us! Luxury!
We had a fascinating tour around the ancient city of Cáceres, taking in some of the beauty despite the rain - including parts of the set of the Game of Thrones prequel that is being filmed in this very city!
