I spotted this beauty on the old football pitch which is on CK heath.
An early visit to Morrison's supermarket, I arrived at 6.45am so browsed the plant section on display in the carpark. Lovely fresh, undamaged 9cm fuchsias £1.30 each. A great price, so I selected a variety called Paula Jane to go in a pot at Mum's. Morrison's opened at 7am, shopped, stopped off at the allotment on the way back to water a few crops, then home, unpack groceries, then down to CK. Indie & I had a glorious walk in the sunshine. Back at base Mum was gardening. I'm so pleased she's happy to walk about unaided as she will get to see folks she knows so will be able to have a chat. Leslie & Jago, 2 neighbours in the cul-de-sac will always stop & chat, as they did this morning.
I headed back home, sat in the garden for half an hour then got an early lunch. Jane had invited me to join her for afternoon tea, & talk at the DPHT. (Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust) in Bovey Tracey. I volunteered there for 18months, but did'nt sing from the same song sheet so gave it up. The Trust had a few problems in the past 12months, so now sort of re-launching, with a new CEO joining in July. Elizabeth Newbolt-Young founded the charity approximately 15 years ago, the aim to promote, & protect the Dartmoor breed which is now on the Red endangered list. Tracey Elliott-Reap, her daughter, gave a talk about her adventures around the world on horseback, & Sue Rodgers, a moorland generational farmer, & Dartmoor pony breeder, explained some her involvement in keeping the breed alive. Time will tell.
