Chain Guard!
I am having a rattling/rubbing chain guard issue with Miranda and I think that I have found the likely cause. It looks like the screw or bolt that was originally holding this clip on has sheared causing the chain guard to move up and down as well as fore and aft. I have solved the problem with a judiciously placed tie wrap but it does somewhat take away from the aesthetic of the bike. The very helpful owner of Workcycles in the Netherlands suggested that I put in a self tapper which I will certainly do but my issue is how to get the old screw out. Love having these issues, bikes are fantastic things!
Had a solo run this morning as my running buddy was still resting his sore paws from his amazing achievement of running he Edinburgh marathon on Sunday. I decided to break the habit of a lifetime and plug in some headphones and listen to music. I used the mix that I use whenever I run on the treadmill. It seems that RPM sprint tracks are the best to run to. They BPM of this style of song seems to match my footfall quite well and even pushes me on a bit. Anyway with the distraction of the music I managed to average 8:10 minute miles for the 6 miles. My heart rate averaged out at 150bpm which was quite high for a run. Followed that up with a wee step class which was tough on the calves. A colleague from my coalface came for their first ever Step class and I reminded him that what goes on in Step, stays in Step - it's the first rule of Step club!
