Stand-in
This morning we had a lovely walk on Dunwich Heath. Of course we had hoped to see Dartford Warblers, the star species there. That northerly wind was STILL blowing, and very little was showing. We had a couple of maybes but no firm sightings, and certainly no photo opps. Very frustrating! We adjourned to the Coastguard Cottages cafe for lunch and fortunately some of the outdoor tables were in the shelter of the cottages so we were able to eat outside. This Robin was not shy in joining us to beg refreshment.
In extras is one of the sculptures which are to be found along the length of the Sandlings walk which I completed (60 miles) some years ago. Many are Nightjars, the symbol of the walk, although there are also some moths. I love to see them - they remind me of the sense of achievement at what was a turning point in my life.
