On the road again
Today we travelled from Wentworth to Burra.
The main was taken late this afternoon in South Australia at the very lower end of the Flinders Ranges.I love this country, so open and with gentle rolling hills.
We left late as we had a cuppa with our friends and chatted until about 10am. It was so good seeing them again, we had a nice meal at the pub last night and of course we won the meat raffle. At least we could give that to our hosts as our fridge and freezer were full.
We crossed into Victoria (state) soon after we left by crossing the Murray River on a very old one lane bridge. It was built with a central platform that could be raised for the large riverboats to navigate. The top extra shows the country in Victoria. After an hour we crossed another state border into South Australia (see 2 lower images in the extra). We only passed one large town called Renmark and just stopped along the road for morning tea and lunch.
I drove for the middle section through rainy weather. When we changed over I decided to clean the windows and mirrors. I also gave the display unit (for navigation, climate control, music etc) in the car a clean but it didn’t like the spray and had a hissy fit for the rest of the journey. The instructions say NOT to use sprays on it but who reads the manual up to page 200? It got stuck on the climate mode and kept on putting the heat and fans onto full blast every 10 seconds for the rest of the 80k journey.
We were a bit frazzled by the time we arrived here in Burra…..and the accommodation was full. Plan B we moved onto the showground and set up for the night. I’m completely surprised with this little town it’s very charming and trendy. Never been here before and must return to look around. We are on a mission and want to get to the Eyre Peninsula tomorrow.
Sorry comments and thankyou may be lacking but I appreciate your visit.
