Proper Popped Poppy

I really enjoy the random holidays we get here.  More than anything I just appreciate the absence of work.

It was a lovely day here but it is also Vatertag - Father's Day.  That means lots of groups of men wandering around the countryside drinking themselves silly while listening to crap music.  Not quite how I would choose to spend a day.

Alcohol culture is odd here.  You'd never go for a night out with colleagues and just drink.  Just never happens.  But on some days - the madness descends and it's better to stay at home.

Silvester/New Year's Eve - makes Edinburgh on the 31st December look tame.
Karneval - makes Silvester look tame.
Vatertag - you get the idea.
