Pouring Oil On Troubled Waters

O.K maybe troubled waters is pushing it a bit - but today was miserable and very wet.
My brother had to take yet another day off work due to the train strikes and whilst he was glad about not having to go in work he is really getting fed up of having to use up all his holiday entitlement. So I thought I should treat him to lunch at our local to cheer him up.
We got absolutely drenched on the walk down to The Chequers and we were actually the only customers for the whole time we were there. We settled on having three starters - halloumi fries, pigs in blankets and chicken wings with a barbecue sauce dip, a side order of fries and, of course, a couple of pints. Delicious! My brother was really feeling much more relaxed and starting to enjoy his enforced day off.
By the time we headed back home the rain had eased off and I spotted the reflections in these puddles and the rainbow like patterns left by a small spill of oil on the road. My blip was done for the day!
This evening I also got to meet up with The Maltesers again. We had a good old chinwag on a hugely eclectic array of subjects - the supposedly short runway at Madiera airport, vintage motorcycles, long lost pubs, Japanese cars, resin patios, redundancy experiences, park runs and getting stuck at the top of a mist covered mountain in the Seychelles!
