Nerding out

Today was midterm day. Our students cramming all the information we've being teaching these past two weeks into this moment. After all the build up, the exam said and done its party time. At least for the students. Down by the lakeside I met many of them throwing three sheets to the wind. Chugging box wine and relay biking through Blissville on beach cruisers! The "tour de Franzia" they called it. Its gonna be a long, or then again maybe again a short night, yeah?

Either way, Katie and I dorked out while our students partied down. Watching a movie in the lounge and staying in like a bunch of old fogies, as they say. At around midnight we met with Dave and a few students. Driving on a night mission to the swamp, the breeze through the pines. Katie once again calling in barred owls through the darkness. A pair of them hooting and cackling over our heads, the stars twinkling through the branches, and grinning ear to ear below listening in the gloom. Conversations across species, and magical moments I'm happy to have shared with some of my students.
