Female Blackcap

Today's the day ...................... for birdsong

I've heard the sweet melodic song of this bird quite a lot recently but today it stayed long enough in the same place for me to get a picture of it.

I think it's a female blackcap - which is a bit of a misnomer because the cap of the female is not black, but a sort of chestnut brown.  The song really is lovely and apparently is the reason why the blackcap is also  known as the ‘northern nightingale’.
