What’s in name?
It was a beautiful day so, after a quick trip to Aldi, I spent most of the day tidying up the garden. I did so much work on it during the lockdowns that it’s really just (just?!?) a case of weeding, pruning and replacing dead plants with new, soon-to-be-dead plants. The only colour that’s not green, though, has to come from whatever I put in pots so hopefully I can get those done next weekend.
This picture isn’t from my garden, but from the woods where my son played Airsoft this morning. The number of different plants reminded me about a crossword puzzle I did recently, where the answers were all plants that are also names. I wonder why ‘Rose’ and ‘Fern’ are common names, but - as far as I’m aware - no-one’s ever been called ‘Burdock’ or ‘Nettle’?
