Perennial Cornflower
I think that’s what it is….I discovered it today growing along side the cycle/footpath near the village. I can’t say that I have noticed it before, but the flowers are really quite striking. There was just one clump of it with a couple of dozen flowers.
Latin name (if I have the correct ID) is Centaurea montana.
I have cheekily tagged it for wild flower week…not sure if it is really a wild flower or just a cultivated species that has escaped.
