Matted Abstract

Common or garden door mat. 
We've had this mat for a few weeks and I find it puzzling. At first sight it seems to be a simple regular pattern of larger and smaller circles, but it's not, the only regularity that I can find is that there are two sizes of rings.
Correction.
Closer examination of my photo showed that there are at least three sizes.
