Marazion

In the morning we went to the geothermal pool where you can swim (though it’s pretty shallow) in warm water heated to between 30 and 35c by a geothermal well 410 metres down in the earth. It was lovely.
Then there was more deluge, so we watched the dvd of Monsoon Wedding, a beautiful film. Then about 4 it stopped raining, and there was even a bit of blue sky. So we drove to Long Rock and then walked around Mounts Bay to Marazion. There’s a few interesting things in this picture, firstly and most obviously, St Michaels Mount which we hope to visit. Secondly a new kind of windsurfer which is a hydrofoil which lifts the board out of the water when the wind catches the sail. So there is less friction and they go incredibly fast. Thirdly there is a sculpture at the back of the beach there to commemorate the lost forest that is now under the sea between the island and mainland.
And fourth, and most topically, do you see a u shape of brown water extending out into the blue water of the bay? Well that’s sewage - coming out of a storm outfall, untreated straight into the water of a popular holiday resort where people swim, paddle, and surf Because when it rains heavily our infrastructure cannot deal with the extra water in the drains and the water companies are allowed to let it escape directly into rivers and the sea. I know about this in theory already. But was shocked to see it happening before my eyes . Unbelievably disgusting. And dangerous
