Day 2 (On Board)
The whole hotel, evidently, was full of cruisers!
We had an excellent breakfast with a real treat - Greek rice pudding on the menu!!
It was quite an operation to get everyone on to several buses and over to the pier. In fact, as we were last in last night, we were last on a bus to the ship. So we spent a lot of time sitting in the rather magnificent foyer. But we weren't bored, we spent the time chatting to other travellers. Mainly Americans, but British folk as well, and a few Europeans. Loved how all the Americans wanted to talk about the Coronation. They love the Royals!
But by the time we got to the port, and then through customs and on to the ship, everybody was frazzled. There were THREE cruise ships all leaving at the same and all queued and waiting for security. And there was only ONE Xray thingie open!!! People were getting very tetchy.
However, once we were onboard, unpacked and and settled in, we went along to our favourite cafe for a coffee and nibbles. It's great to be familiar with the ship (we went on this one last year) and know the best places to go.
We had a wonderful meal at our favourite restaurant (scallops and strawberries, followed by steak with a choice of veges, with chocolate cheescake dessert for me, poached pear and ice cream for JR. With a couple of glasses of a rather nice 'Kiwi' white wine.
Again, not much opportunity to take photos. The holiday officially starts now!
Had problems getting online all evening. Probably because 600 folk were all trying to log on at the same time…
