skirt

A gloriously sunny May Day; everywhere is suddenly green and bursting into life.

After a morning of pottering in the garden, I went up to Dunscore to meet Joanna and she drove us to Moniaive to visit the Craft Fair. We met some friends and had a blether and then went across the road for  a cup of tea in the cafe's back garden. The Moniaive Folk Festival is on all weekend in the adjoining field, so there was a lovely atmosphere with people coming and going and a bit of impromptu music-making.

Before going home, we  went to The Hive, which is Moniaive's community hub/shop. Lots of vintage clothes and books for sale. Joanna found this fabulous skirt for a fiver :-) She is laughing because every time I stepped into the road to take the photo, a car would come along the street with someone we knew at the wheel. It's that kind of place.

I've just made our tea, which included a beetroot salad (like a purple hummus). The recipe was given to me by Helen, Chris's Mum, after we had eaten it at his birthday lunch last month and this is the first time I've made it. Recipe Here if you fancy giving it a try.
