Memories

I spent most of the day watching the Coronation on TV. Having watched a tiny black and white screen back in 1953, not really understanding what was going on, it was a pleasure to watch today, a momentous occasion.

I took part in an event in Carlisle celebrating the Coronation 70 yrs ago.  I remember it so clearly and feeling so proud. It’s interesting that such a ‘posh’ photo was taken at the event and that it has survived all these years. It has only surfaced during this recent clear out of the cupboards. B & R had never seen it.

The souvenir that I have from today’s event is the present from Annie that she made for me, as a thank you for all the things that I make for her.

We have the beaker that B received in ‘53 which has survived, it’s the blue one on the left in extras, as well as the 1937 mug which came from B’s parents. I got a mug, but it got broken.

A day that many people will remember all their life and will be proud to be British.
