Redondela to Pontevedra (20km)

Another sunny day and after a reasonable night’s sleep (the bin men woke us up at 4.30am) Mr P and I set off on the next stage of our Camino. Rather poignant for me today as it would have been my mum’s 100th birthday. We stopped off en route for coffee and cakes and were entertained by buskers playing the gaita (a Galician instrument very like our bagpipes).
The walk was a combination of woodland and paths and although we’re now walking shorter routes there was far more uphill, so I was exhausted when we got to our hotel in Pontevedra. We relaxed all afternoon. Calve exercises and ice for me, before meeting up with our Camino posse for drinks and tapas in the square outside our hotel this evening. It’s now raining heavily,
